Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is just 7 miles from downtown, with SEPTA Regional Rail service to Center City in 25 minutes ($7). The airport handles major domestic and some international routes. Taxis to Center City cost $28 (flat rate); rideshares $18-30.
Amtrak connects Philly to New York (75 min on Acela), Washington DC (2 hours), and Boston (5.5 hours) β the Northeast Corridor makes Philly easily accessible by train. 30th Street Station is a beautiful Beaux-Arts landmark and the transit hub.

Getting around
SEPTA operates buses, trolleys, and two subway lines. The Broad Street Line (orange) runs north-south from Center City directly to the Sports Complex station β your match-day ride. The Market-Frankford Line (blue) runs east-west. Single rides are $2.50.
Philly is one of America's most walkable cities. Center City, Old City, and South Philly are all connected by foot. The city is flat and compact β a walk from City Hall to the Liberty Bell takes 15 minutes.
Indego bike-share has stations across Center City and surrounding neighbourhoods ($15/month or $4/30 min). Rideshares run $8-15 for most intra-city trips.

Philadelphia punches above its weight in food. The cheesesteak gets the fame, but the Italian Market, the reading terminal, and the restaurant scene are world-class.
Cheesesteaks: Pat's King of Steaks and Geno's Steaks face each other at the intersection of 9th and Passyunk in South Philly β the iconic rivalry. Locals actually prefer Jim's South Street (thinly sliced) or Dalessandro's (Roxborough). Order "whiz wit" (Cheez Whiz with onions) for the full Philly experience.
Reading Terminal Market (Center City) is a must-visit food hall. DiNic's roast pork sandwich (with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe) was named the best sandwich in America. Bassetts Ice Cream has been here since 1861.
The Italian Market on 9th Street in South Philly is the oldest outdoor market in America (since 1884). Fresh produce, cheese shops, and bakeries line the street. Grab a cannoli at Isgro Pastries.
Federal Donuts does fried chicken and fancy donuts β the hot fresh cinnamon donut is a must. Zahav (Israeli) won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant β book months ahead.

Lincoln Financial Field ("the Linc") is in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex alongside Citizens Bank Park (Phillies) and the Wells Fargo Center (Sixers/Flyers). It's about 5 miles south of Center City.
Getting there: SEPTA Broad Street Line (orange subway) runs directly to NRG station at the Sports Complex (20 min from City Hall, $2.50). Trains run extra services on event days. This is the best option. Driving is possible β parking $40-50. Rideshare pickup/dropoff zones on Pattison Avenue.

Xfinity Live! adjacent to the stadium is a massive entertainment complex with bars, restaurants, and big screens β perfect for pre-match drinks.
Philly fans are passionate. Eagles tailgating culture translates to World Cup energy. Expect loud, intense, but welcoming crowds.
After the match: The Broad Street Line handles the exodus well. 20-30 minute waits, then 20 minutes to Center City. Much easier than MetLife or Foxborough.

Beyond the stadium
Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell are free to visit and essential for anyone interested in American history β the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed here. The Museum of the American Revolution nearby is excellent.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art (the "Rocky Steps") has a world-class collection. Run up the steps, pump your fists, and take the selfie β everyone does. The Barnes Foundation nearby has one of the best Impressionist/Post-Impressionist collections in the world.
Walk down South Street for vintage shops, record stores, and murals. The Mural Arts program has made Philly the "City of Murals" with over 4,000 public artworks.
LOVE Park (JFK Plaza) with the Robert Indiana LOVE sculpture is the iconic Philly photo op.

The Sports Complex area including Xfinity Live! will be a natural hub. Expect fan activations around City Hall and Love Park as well.
